Privacy Policy

Last updated 2026-06-10

Smartonic is a publication, not a platform. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no comment system. The data we handle is correspondingly small. This page describes all of it.

What we collect

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate readership: which pages are read, how long, from which countries, on which devices. GA4 sets cookies and collects pseudonymous identifiers and approximate location derived from IP address; we have configured it for analytics only, and we do not use it for advertising. We do not collect names, emails, or any directly identifying information from readers browsing the site.

Cookies

Two kinds: Google Analytics cookies (described above), and a single preference value stored in your browser if you toggle dark mode. Blocking either changes nothing about your ability to read the site.

What we never do

We do not sell, rent, or share reader data with anyone. We do not run third-party advertising. We do not build profiles of individual readers. We do not send email, because we have no way to know your address.

If you email us

If you write to us through the contact page, we keep the correspondence for as long as it is useful for answering you, then it is ordinary old email. We do not add contact addresses to any list.

Your rights

Under the GDPR (EU/EEA readers), the CCPA (California readers), and similar laws elsewhere, you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data a site holds about you. Because we hold essentially none, the practical answer to most requests is that there is nothing to retrieve — but write to us via the contact page and we will confirm that for your specific case. You can also opt out of Google Analytics entirely with the official browser add-on.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted here, not buried.
